I chose to job shadow a barber. I did my job shadow on 3/9/16. I job shadowed a barber here in Lindsay and I chose a barber because it's a job I've been thinking about and looking into for a while now.
The job shadow went well. I observed and asked questions on what steps he takes first on completing some of the haircuts. I got to see him cut different lengths of hair all with different styles and it was interesting to see how he started on all the different styles of haircuts.
Being there asking multiple questions threw out all the haircuts helped me learn a lot about starting a haircut what to do throughout the haircut and hot to finish a hair cut
I learned how you can go about your barber business and how you can be an individual in the business but still be successful. I liked how he had his work days planned ahead and how organized he was. With the way he set up his schedule he never had to rush one of the cuts he was working on due to another client walking in because of the time he schedules them at. The only downside I see to being a barber is that you are on your feet all day. So with him only doing appointments only it give him time to take a 5 minute break in between each haircut which beats the disadvantage of him being on his feet all day.
I am still interested in this job as of right now and will look into to schooling more as this year goes on. Cutting hair is something I already know how to do and is something I have passion for so I believe my goal of becoming a barber will be a lot easier for me to accomplish because I already have a head start on cutting hair.
